Each member of Blue Goatee has a rich musical background: Lederer has played with Steve Jenkins of Third Eye Blind and Dave Bryson of Counting Crows; Kassoff has jammed with the son of Mitch Ryder (of Detroit Wheels fame); Smith currently performs with several blues and soul bands in the San Francisco Bay Area; and Krawic works for Sony Records' grammy-winning producer Walter Afanasieff.
Every member of the band brings a unique style and sound to the band's songs, which weave compelling melodies with thoughtful lyrics. Regarding his philosophy on writing music, Lederer observed, "I really enjoy writing songs that have foundations in a number of genres. Good songs speak for the times and feed people emotionally."
